Confessions Of A Megalomaniac

Tell me all that I wish to hear.
Tell me that I am never wrong.
Especially when I ask for "honest" feedback;
you know that's not what I truly seek.

Agree with me.
Lie to me.

I am privileged.
I grew up with both parents who gave me everything,
who told me I was better than everyone else.

The world revolves around me and my needs.
Your feelings? They don’t matter.
I only pretend they do when I want something from you.

At work, my employees are my minions.
They must treat me like royalty.
After all, I saved their careers and their lives.
They’re lucky to be employed by me.
They’re talentless. No one else will want them.
That’s how I keep them close.

When I’m in a good mood, I’ll toss them a compliment,
maybe even ask how they’re feeling.
But I don’t care.
I’ve seen enough corporate videos on “employee retention.”

I hold everyone else accountable;
even for the things that are my fault.
Grace? They get none.
I save that for myself.
After all, I’m so busy,
it’s impossible to remember everything.
That’s what the gofers are for…
so I can absolve myself of blame.

Some call me a narcissist.
Some call me a “typical businessperson.”
But only the opinions of people who can serve me
—or serve my well-being—matter.

And it will serve you well to remember that.

About the blog

I initially created my website to share my work with fellow writers. After taking a break for several years, I recently returned and turned one of my projects into a book titled “Guilty,” which I will be releasing at the end of February 2025! This has been an incredible journey, and I’m excited to see what comes next once this project is complete. Thank you for visiting! Please take a look at my work over the years and feel free to leave feedback—I truly appreciate it, whether it’s positive or constructive!
